Getting a visa and coming to Moscow
After receiving an official invitation, contact the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to obtain a visa. After obtaining a visa and buying tickets, contact the international department of the faculty to address any questions related to your arrival in Moscow. Start classes in September 2023!

ADMISSION ON EQUAL TERMS WITH RUSSIAN CITIZENS

Certain categories of foreign citizens have the right to enter on equal terms with citizens of the Russian Federation

(on a competitive basis). These categories include:

  • 1

    Citizens of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic
    (based on the Agreement since November 24, 1998 on granting Equal rights to citizens of the States Parties to the Treaty on Deepening Integration in the Economic and Humanitarian Fields since March 29, 1996 for admission to Educational Institutions);
  • 2
    Compatriots permanently residing abroad
    and meeting the criteria of Clause 6 of Article 17 of the Federal Law "On the State Policy of the Russian Federation in relation to Compatriots Abroad" dated 05/24/1999 No. 99-FZ;
  • 3
    CIS citizens with a residence permit in Russia
    and subject to the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of education (Tashkent, May 15, 1992), the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation of June 6, 1995.

To recognize the status of a compatriot, to verify compliance with the criteria of paragraph 6 of Article 17 of the Federal Law "On the state policy of the Russian Federation in relation to compatriots abroad" and admission to the entrance tests on an equal basis with Russian citizens, it is necessary to pass the recognition procedure.


To complete the procedure, you must contact your Faculty and provide scanned copies of the following documents:

    Copies of documents certifying the identity and citizenship of the applicant
    upon personal submission of documents, the applicant presents documents certifying his identity and citizenship;
  • 2
    A copy of the passport (and/or birth certificate) of one of the applicant's parents living in the past on the territory of the Russian state, the Russian Republic, the RSFSR, the USSR or the Russian Federation;
  • 3
    A copy of the applicant's birth certificate confirming kinship in a direct ascending line with the above—mentioned persons - for the descendants of compatriots;
  • 4

    A copy of the official document confirming the applicant's permanent residence abroad
    (depending on the country — a stamp in the passport, a certificate from an official body of a foreign state, the presence of an entry in the national passport, etc.)
  • 5
    A copy of the migration card, visa and the tear-off part of the notification form on the arrival of a foreign citizen or stateless person at the place of stay
    (if available, for applicants who are on the territory of the Russian Federation at the time of submission of documents).

All documents drawn up in a foreign language must be accompanied by a notarized translation into Russian.

The student must submit original documents that were sent earlier by e-mail (if necessary, with Russian translations) to the international department of their Faculty.

If the documents are not submitted to the Faculty before the date specified by the admission committee, the student may be expelled!

What do I need to do to take entrance examens on the same conditions as Russian students?

    Fill out the application form
  • 3
    Provide scanned copies of the following documents:
  • Copies of documents certifying the identity and citizenship of the applicant (upon personal submission of documents, the applicant presents documents certifying his identity and citizenship);
  • A copy of the applicant's residence permit in Russia.

RECOGNITION OF DOCUMENTS ABOUT EDUCATION RECEIVED IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY

If you received your previous education outside of Russia, then in order to enter Moscow University your foreign education must be recognized as corresponding to the educational program implemented in the Russian Federation. Recognition of foreign education and/or qualifications is a prerequisite for admission to Moscow University.

Recognition of a foreign education and/or qualification is a prerequisite for admission to Moscow University!

Recognition of a foreign education is carried out using the AIS "Recognition" system.

To pass the recognition procedure, you must prepare:

  • A valid identity card by which you plan to cross the border of the Russian Federation for the purpose of studying;
  • A document about your previous education and its appendices;
  • A document confirming a change of surname, first name or patronymic, if they do not match with the educational document and the valid identity card.
You can also upload additional documents to the system confirming your education (for example, copies of documents on continuing education, additional professional education programs, academic internships, including in a foreign educational organization, etc.).

Documents received in a foreign country must be legalized.

Passing the education recognition procedure is not equivalent to submitting documents for admission to Moscow State University.
